Soya on Women’s health

Most women are suffering health problems like osteoporosis and early menopausal symptoms. Experts say that a crop that comes from the soy bean can help fight these health problems. This crop is the Soya which is considered a versatile product and is also considered one of the five holy crops along with rice, barley, millet and wheat. Some of the products that can be derived from it are Soya tempeh, Soya milk, Soya sauce, miso and tofu.

Experts are continually researching on the antioxidant effect of Soya. For vegans and vegetarians, Soya is very important since they create meat-like product for their recipes that will suffice their diet that lacks protein. Soya can be an excellent substitute for meat since the protein that it contains is of high quality because it has all the essential amino acids.

Soya is also rich in isoflavones that can have an estrogen-like effect and this can help control the menopausal symptoms. One of the soy products, the Soya milk has no calcium content. However, it helps reduce the osteoporosis risk also because of the isoflavones. This is because the foods that are rich in animal protein can cause more calcium in the excretion of the urine. Thus, if animal protein is replaced by soy protein, it will reduce the loss of calcium and as a consequence reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
