Brooches: Jewelry in Garments

As we all know, jewelry pieces are worn to add beauty and an interesting touch to an outfit. Though many jewelry pieces are worn directly on the body and independently of one another, there are also jewelry pieces that work best when they are worn on garments. These jewelry pieces are commonly bought to be fixed or attached on clothing and are usually worn for formal occasions.

A brooch is an example of a jewelry piece that is worn with clothing. A brooch is usually placed on side of the chest like a badge pinned to a uniform. Brooches have been popular even in the old days when women wore layers of dresses as casual wear and men wore formal clothing as everyday outfit. Even in the time when kings and queens totally rule the world, brooches where very dominant as a jewelry piece for the royal people. A brooch is usually made using precious alloys and can be studded with different stones. This is why brooches are regarded to be closely associated to wealth and fame.

Some women consider brooches to be a collector’s item. There are many antique and very traditional designs of brooches that are hard to find. Thus, this makes brooches to be very posh and luxurious to have even in the contemporary period.
